Successful Deployments in U.S. and Abroad Reported

WALL, N.J. , Jan. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, today highlights recent successes that were reported in the media on its fingerprint biometrics identification solutions in both commercial and government applications.

The January 8th edition of This Week in Consumer Electronics (TWICE) profiled AT&T's nationwide deployment of tablet PCs for use by in-store customer representatives as a sales tool and to help facilitate interaction with customers. In order to prevent system-wide security breaches, AT&T's notebooks are equipped with BIO-key's fingerprint identification software in place of traditional user passwords. As a result, AT&T's store personnel now have the ability to quickly and easily log into applications while operating under a higher level of system security. On December 30th , The International Times Herald published an article on the recently completed Bangladesh national elections. In order to ensure the accuracy of the election's voter roll, Tiger IT - the prime contractor responsible for delivering the voter registration solution - integrated BIO-key's patented biometric identification software to collect fingerprints from each of the 80 million people who registered to vote. Additionally, BIO-key's WEB-key(R) technology was used to detect duplicate registrations and was instrumental in identifying approximately ten million fake or duplicate names. "The process appears to have yielded a result that accurately reflects the will of Bangladeshi voters," according to Constance Berry Newman , the head of a 65-person delegation of observers from the International Republican Institute, as reported by the Associated Press on December 30th . BIO-key's fingerprint-based biometric software has also been used successfully in the public sector here in the United States , as reported in the current edition issue of Sheriff magazine. The article, titled "Critical Next Step for Information Sharing for Hometown Security and Homeland Security: Fingerprint Biometrics-based Identity Management", describes the use of BIO-key's fingerprint-based biometric identification solution in the National Sheriffs Association's Pegasus system. By integrating BIO-key's web-based solution into their system, county sheriffs and other law enforcement personnel around the country are able to query other local crime and criminal history databases and share highly confidential and sensitive information. Access is facilitated through an authorized user system that requires a finger swipe on a fingerprint reader attached to a Pegasus workstation. BIO-key's WEB-key software reads the fingerprint data and authenticates the individual, virtually eliminating the opportunity for fraudulent access. This higher level of security promotes information sharing since participating agencies are assured that only authorized users can access their data.
