Dublin, Ohio implements new VMS solution

City migrates from analog surveillance system to IP using Milestone’s XProtect video software

With a population of 40,000 that can sometimes be nearly doubled by events that are hosted in the town, Dublin, Ohio, recently implemented Milestone Systems' XProtect Enterprise video management software platform.

According to a statement released by the company, Dublin, being concerned about the clarity of video evidence, recently migrated from an analog surveillance system to a wireless IP video system. Milestone’s XProtect platform currently ties together 60 network video cameras from Axis Communications and IQinVision.

Both police and city officials have access to the Milestone client interface and a combination of nearly 80 police and dispatch personnel are currently using it, the statement further noted.

"We are known in Dublin for innovative thinking and leveraging technology to improve the city. Milestone and Northwestern are a perfect match for the entire solution, and the Axis cameras have been great, as well," said Jay Sommerville, technical services bureau director at the Dublin Ohio Division of Police. "The network mapping and wireless approach allow us to use the cameras remotely from the central station."
