Oklahoma town sees increase in false alarms despite ordinance

Despite an alarm ordinance that went into effect last year, the city of Yukon, Okla., reportedly saw more false alarms in 2009 than in the previous year, according to a story published by newsok.com.

In fact, statistics showed that incidents of false alarms increased nearly 90 percent, going from 415 incidents in 2008 to 779 in 2009. Yukon police say that they intend to step up enforcement of the ordinance in 2010, which calls for a $50 fine for the third and fourth false alarm in the same year, and a $100 fine for any fifth or subsequent violation.
