The Loss Prevention Foundation (LPF) and Retail Council of Canada (RCC) announced Wednesday that they have partnered to offer professional certification to loss prevention officers in Canada.
The LPF’s “LPQ” certification program was launched last year with the help of certification consulting firm Knapp & Associates International. The program is intended to provide entry level loss prevention workers with a “benchmark education venue,” according to a statement issued by the company. The “LPC” program, which is intended to provide an advanced education for workers in loss prevention management, is scheduled to be launched later this year.
“LPF is very pleased to be part of this partnership. We believe the Loss Prevention Foundation’s certifications will effectively complement the Retail Council of Canada’s mission of providing quality education to the Canadian loss prevention community” said Gene Smith, LPF President. “By partnering with other leaders in the retail industry such as RCC, we make positive strides toward long overdue formal recognition to the specialized profession”.
