Numerex, an Atlanta-based provider of machine-to-machine solutions announced Tuesday that it has signed a deal with Telcel, Mexico’s largest cell phone carrier, to provide wireless monitoring service to its customers.
In a prepared statement, representatives for Telcel, which is a subsidiary of America Movil and GE Security, and the other companies, said that they felt that the new service would result in a more reliable connection to central stations in the country and provide customers with an enhanced degree of safety.
"This new foray into the Mexican residential and commercial security market validates GE's commitment to simplifying the user interface for alarm monitoring, which is a universal need that transcends borders. We are proud to work together with Telcel and Numerex to offer enhanced security to millions of Mexican consumers," said Carlos Pacheco, general manager for GE Security, Latin America.
The new service is expected to launch later this month.
