Earlier this week, Identica announced that it has partnered with HID Global to provide a comprehensive access control solution to the Club Fitness franchise of exercise centers located throughout the St. Louis, Mo., area.
According to a press release, Identica, a manufacturer of biometric scanners, will incorporate HID’s iCLASS contactless smart card technology into its VP-II vascular hand scanners for the project.
Club Fitness has already installed the scanners at three of its locations and expects to add them to 11 more of its locations in the city.
In a prepared statement, Rich Quin, director of IT for Club Fitness, said that Identica’s hand readers were the only biometric solution they found that could meet their need to be able to perform in an outdoor environment.
