ISC2 establishes CSSLP certification

As computer applications have become more vulnerable to hackers and various security threats, UK-based ISC2 announced that it has decided to launch the Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) certification to designate software developers who have secure development practices and expertise.

According to a report published by techworld.com, the CSSLP examination will cost security professionals $599 and will verify that they have a thorough knowledge of how to integrate security solutions into their development of software applications.

"Over 70 percent of security vulnerabilities exist at the application layer, presenting a significant, immediate threat to users worldwide," said ISC2 Board Member and President of the Information Security Forum Howard A. Schmidt in a prepared statement. "All too often, security is bolted on at the end of the (software lifecycle) as a response to a threat or after an exposure."
