Alliance between video products company and network infrastructure provider aids move toward security convergence

Network video products market leader Axis Communications has linked up with network infrastructure provider CommScope in a move that underscores the importance of proper network design and installation for IP video.

"In order to allow our customers to deploy a high quality, top performing, and seamless network for all IP devices, CommScope is combining our strengths in the physical infrastructure space with the strength of companies that have their own unique expertise," said Mark Peterson, senior vice president of global marketing for CommScope. "In the security space, Axis has the clear leadership and expertise in IP-based video surveillance. We believe that the alliance represents a great way to help our customers receive exceptional intelligent building solutions."

The two companies will be engaging in cross-training of sales staffs, and the move allows security customers to hear about intelligent building networks, and companies who are investing in building networks to learn how they can take advantage of their network with IP video.

Axis' Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, said the alliance helps spread the message about the importance of the building network in IP video and converged security
