Memo: Holder could create a danger to flight hardware, personnel

NASA has issued a safety notice temporarily suspending the issuance of an Identity Stronghold badge holder that could potentially cause a hazard to flight hardware and personnel.

According to an internal NASA memo published by SpaceRef.com, the Secure Badgeholder could cause Foreign Object Damage (FOD) to flight hardware areas or injury to personnel if metal clips on the holder are not installed properly.

The memo further states that the badge holder can reportedly separate with "little effort," which could subsequently allow the clips, the front half of the holder and badge ID to separate as well. When installed backwards, the metal clasps can also become a projectile when the badge is opened, thus "creating a potential eye injury hazard."
