A security firm has been targeted by armed robbers for the fourth time in a month.

Group4Securicor, which yesterday unveiled new security measures on cash-in-transit vans, was hit on a busy main street on Wednesday afternoon.

While previous raids were carried out on vans making deliveries to banks, the latest was on security workers collecting money from parking meters.

A garda spokesman said two men armed with knives carried out the robbery on Dublin's King's Inn Street at around 1.20pm on Wednesday.

"A number of men approached a white Ford Transit security van which was parked at the time. They threatened two security men with knives and forced them into the rear of the van," said the spokesman.

He added: "The security men were carrying out collections from Dublin Corporation parking meters in the King?s Inn Street area."

The raiders removed a number of cash boxes from the van, which was found abandoned on Dominick Street a short time later.

Neither security guard was injured during the incident.
