Marriott Rewards program creates deal with Clear program from Verified Identity Pass

Proving that it's not at all about security, but all about marketing and convenience, the Clear program announced this morning that it was partnering with Marriott's rewards program for marketing.

The "platinum" members of the rewards program will get a membership in the Clear program for a year, and the Rewards program gold and silver elite members get a deal for a free month if they sign up with Clear for a year.

In announcing the partnership with Clear, Ed French, senior vice president of Marriott Rewards called airport security "one of the biggest hassles of traveling."

The Clear program is owned by Verified Identity Pass, and already has partnerships with Hyatt's own rewards program. Clear is operated as an extension of the TSA's Registered Traveler program, and has been established at 16 U.S. airports.
