Rapiscan Systems to Private Label Brijot Product

Companies developing passive millimeter wave scanning technology for aviation and homeland security environment

Brijot Imaging Systems annoucned today that Rapiscan Systems will be private labeling its passive millimeter wave scanning solutions. The passive millimeter wave technology can be used to screen people for weapons and other threats. Both companies will be involved in the development and the distribution, which will be formally announced on Oct. 30 at the Aviation security show AVSEC World 2007 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The passive millimeter wave is commonly used for body imaging to "see through" clothes for hidden threats, however the passive technology doesn't produce the image quality that X-ray backscatter systems can, which can "see" the human body, according to the TSA. That ability has made the passive millimeter wave technology typically less of a privacy concern for users and operators.
