Axis' Network Cameras Turn 10 Years Old

A decade after the company's Axis 200, network video defines the industry

Axis Communications' network camera line turned 10 years old today, the company reported. It was a full decade ago today that the company launched its AXIS 200 network camera, which the company notes wasn't for surveillance, and was what the company called a "Web attraction" camera.

With a built-in webs server, the 200 was a bit of an oddball in a world defined by analog CCTV cameras.

Today, of course, that product launch strikes a nerve, now that some researchers put growth of the IP video market at 40 percent per year.
