Panasonic Security Turns 50

Company passes golden anniversary, driven by pushing the edge of security technology

Panasonic Security Systems is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. According to a release from the office of Panasonic System Solutions Company President Frank DeFina, the company's focus on security dates back to 1957.

DeFina heralded an "innovative" product line over the year as being a driving force in the company's success. He pointed to the Visicon camera, early color CCDs, time-lapse recorders, unitized PTZs and other such technologies as the "firsts" that the firm has introduced over the years. Recently, the company has become heavily involved in the develop of IP video products, especially network cameras.
