NBFAA to create Technology Interest Groups

May 29, 2008
Discovery meeting for groups to be held June 26 at ESX event

At the upcoming Electronic Security Expo, scheduled for June 25-27, 2008, the National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) will hold meetings to develop Technology Interest Groups (TIGs). The TIGs will assist the NBFAA to develop training programs, coordinate industry research, address code and government issues and facilitate communications between dealers, manufacturers and distributors.

TIGs will be developed for video surveillance, electronic access control, IP-based/networked security, and residential custom electronics. The groups are open to any attendees, including product vendors, distributors and installing dealer companies.

"For years, NBFAA member companies have been some of the most progressive in terms of bringing new technologies and new technological proficiencies into their operations," said NBFAA president George Gunning. "They are also some of the clear leaders in making new products and technologies profitable. At the TIG meeting, we’ll explore just how far along we are on that curve through a look at new, original research. We’ll hear from members who are already doing a great job in tech categories like video surveillance, access control, custom electronics and networked/IP-based security."

"We will also get into some of the obstacles our members are encountering that inhibit greater success with these categories and what NBFAA might be able to do to help them. This ranges from training and research to PR and promotion programs and even government relations. NBFAA staff and leaders will take this information and develop plans to respond with programs to meet member needs," Gunning added.

To become involved with the NBFAA TIGs program, attend a breakfast on June 26 at the ESX event in Nashville, Tenn. Interested persons should RSVP to NBFAA Senior Director of Business Development Tonja Jenkins by June 19. Jenkins can be reached by phone at 8880-447-1689, ext. 206 or by email.
