E-Health Insider's Primary Care website reported today that Lewisham Primary Care (in the UK) has turned to biometrics for a staff security solutions.

The Lewisham Children and Young Person's Centre, reports the website, will be using a Logicalis system for fingerprint-based identity verification. The system started as pilot project at Lewisham, Lambeth and Southwark, and now the roll-out is the first of the full-system, non-pilot installations.

The biometrics system at Lewisham will ensure privacy to the digital patient records, and ensure access to correct staff members. The system is reported to use Application Network Services software from Cisco.
