Bosch debuts intrusion system for Indian, eastern residential market

Mar. 9--BANGALORE, India -- Bosch Security Systems has launched two new security systems, designed for homes and small offices. The Easy Series Intrusion Control Panel, and Wireless Intrusion Alarm System VR8 will be marketed through Bosch's channel partner, Eureka Forbes, and will be available from April, said Dhiraj Wali, business head of security technology division, Mico.

The price for the two new products has not been finalised, Mr Wali said. David Anderson, global head for intrusion detection business, Bosch Security Systems, said that the company is currently working on six new technologies for sensor detection, and would be utilised in products soon.

Mr Wali said that the business of electronic security products is worth Rs 500 crore, with Bosch Security Systems holding a 9 percent share of it. The market for security products is currently growing at 25 percent, he said.

"In the residential segment, there is an increasing interest among property developers, which was missing till a few years ago," he said. The Easy Series launched on Wednesday, with a single-button control, is capable of sending an SMS alert in case of an intrusion, and allows the user to remotely access the system over phone.

It detects forced openings, gas leaks, fire and unauthorised movement, and can communicate in about 20 languages. The Wireless Intrusion Alarm System can be operated through remote keypads and is meant for homes, apartments or shops.
