Two office buildings to be part of 50-acre medical development

Two medical office buildings are under construction at Fountain Park in south Oklahoma City.

The 50-acre medical development started in conjunction with the opening of Community Hospital at 3100 SW 89th St., said James A. Rosacker, an orthopedic physician and co-founder of Fountain Park. Community Hospital, then known as Physicians Hospital of Oklahoma, opened in 1999.

The hospital's services include inpatient and outpatient surgery, 50 acute care suites and intensive care capabilities. Community Hospital recently added a pain management department and a sleep laboratory.

Shortly after the hospital opened, Vantage Open MRI opened at 3048 SW 89th St. A short time later a 12,000-square-foot office building opened with physicians providing orthopedic and other medical services.

The most recent addition to the area is Fountain Park Pharmacy.

The two projects under construction in the area include a 15,000-square-foot medical office building on the north side SW 89th Street across from the hospital and a two-story, 45,000-square-foot facility on the south side of SW 89th.

The 15,000-square-foot building is expected to open in October and the larger medical facility is scheduled to be completed next spring. Both facilities are being built predominately by Rosacker and other physicians associated with the hospital.

Other development is possible.

An occupational medicine, work injury care and family medicine network is expected to be constructed next to Fountain Park Pharmacy.

Discussions are under way for a possible residential hotel on the Interstate 44 side of Fountain Park, Rosacker said.

In addition to the interstate highway, hospital and other medical facilities, the potential hotel site is also near Will Rogers World Airport, the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center and two colleges - Oklahoma City Community College and Mid-America Christian University.
