Staples to move current Electric Road location to Tanglewood Mall anchor space

Jul. 21--Tanglewood Mall has finalized plans for its newest anchor retailer, and other mall tenants are moving around to make room for more changes.

Staples will relocate its Electric Road store to Tanglewood, and as reported, it will take a 22,590-square-foot spot beside T.J. Maxx on the west end of the shopping center, said Beckie Spaid, the mall's marketing manager. The national office supply retailer will open its new store in early 2007, she said.

Look out for other movement going on at the mall as it prepares a 48,000-square-foot space for Steve & Barry's University Sportswear that's set to open in October. The sports apparel retailer will move into the food court area on the mall's second floor and stretch into the former top level space of T.J. Maxx.

Work to create additional space has been completed in the area across from the food court on the mall's second floor, near Belk. Chick-fil-A and Hair Plus will relocate their stores to the new space in the next few months, Spaid said.

Chick-fil-A's new spot will open by Oct. 15, while Hair Plus will be open for business by Sept. 1, according to a Tanglewood news release.

Lee Nails, with a store near the food court on the second level, will move downstairs to the mall's first level, near a customer service space. The nail salon will open on Aug. 1.

A sweets retailer also is moving to Tanglewood and expanding its Roanoke Valley presence.

Candy Bouquet, a franchise that sells silk flower arrangements decorated with chocolates and hard candies, will open its second Roanoke-area store at Tanglewood on Aug. 1. Last year, it debuted on First Street in downtown Roanoke.

Candy Bouquet will take a spot on Tanglewood's first level, near Stein Mart, said its owner, Gail McMahon.

Elsewhere, near Tanglewood, a bakery chain's opening is planned for July 31. Panera Bread will make its Roanoke debut in the former spot of Mac & Maggie's restaurant on Electric Road, near the west side of Tanglewood.

Panera Bread is planning another Roanoke Valley store that will be part of a new retail center going up beside Valley View Mall in Roanoke.
