Norwegian X-ray Machines Failed to Detect Explosives

Eight kilos of explosives were not detected during tests of systems

A Norwegian classified report has shocked the country's aviation industry. According to the report, eight kilos of explosives went through machines designed to reveal explosives at airports two months ago.

The explosives were used by Norway's Avinor to test the machines, but nothing was detected.

Ove Narvesen, the communications manager of Avinor, told the Norwegian newspaper Nordlys that the matter is considered a serious one. The report apparently states that the X-ray machines at Trondheim's Vaernes airport did not work properly - these machines are the same as those used on a daily basis at major Norwegian airports.
