Chicago to hire new security firm for water plants

Feb. 1, 2008

Chicago is considering SkyTech Enterprises to provide security services at the city's water plants. The previous guard services provider, Honor Guard Security, was much criticized this past fall for instances of guards found sleeping while on duty. Since that time, security has been provided by city employees working overtime.

According to a report from the Chicago Sun-Times, SkyTech was not the lowest bidder, but the most qualified. The newspaper reported that the bid was for 120 guards providing around-the-clock security at two water filtration plants and a number of pumping stations.
