EDMONTON , Jan. 28 - Planet Organic Market, Canada's largest natural foods retailer, today announced that construction on a second Ontario location in the northwest section of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is underway.
In addition, detailed renovations of a chain of vitamin/supplement stores called Healthy's has begun. The re-branded Healthy's outlets will now operate under the new name of Planet Organic Living. As the re-branding begins, construction has also started on a new Planet Organic Living store in the southern Ontario town of Milton.
In the first step, it is anticipated that construction of the Planet Organic Market retail store will be completed in March. It is located in a new shopping center in the City of Vaughan, a bedroom community northwest of Toronto that is part of the GTA.
The Vaughan location offers one of the best demographic areas for a Planet Organic outlet because it is densely populated, residents are well educated and incomes are relatively high.
Planet Organic Market opened its first store in the GTA just over a year ago in Port Credit, which is located west of downtown Toronto .
The first vitamin/supplement outlet that will be renovated and re-branded under the Planet Organic Living name is located in the Toronto Stock Exchange building in the heart of downtown Toronto .
The second Planet Organic Living outlet under construction is located in the Town of Milton, a rapidly growing bedroom community west of Toronto .
"It's great to see another Planet Organic Market location going up in Toronto . We continue our search for more locations," said Darren Krissie , VP and CFO of Planet Organic Health Corporation.
"We're also excited to launch the new look for the smaller Healthy's outlets," Mr. Krissie added.
