DSM to Build Two N.C. Plants for Manufacturing Fiber Products

LONDON -- Dutch chemicals group DSM nl:00976 said it's building two plants in North Carolina that are expected to be operational in 2006 to add capacity for its high-performance polyethylene fiber and UniDirectional bullet resistant sheet products. DSM added it's already investigating options to further expand global capacity. The fibers will be used for the U.S. Department of Defense's body armor purposes as well as other market segments. DSM shares fell 1 percent.
