ASSI acquisition expands Actcom into Florida market, adds government clients

Virginia Beach-based security systems integrator Actcom Security Solutions (Actcom) has announced that it has fully acquired Florida-based systems integrator Asset Security Systems, Inc. (ASSI).

According to a statement from Actcom(www.actcom.org), the acquisition was completed on Friday, June 3, 2005, and marks Actcom's second major acquisition in the last two years. The previous acquisition was of another integrator company, Virginia Beach's Conseps FMS, in a purchase in 2003.

"Actcom's acquisition of ASSI expands our reach southward and allows us to serve the important and active Florida market. In addition, ASSI brings an impressive portfolio of corporate and government clients, further extending our reach into the high end security integration market" said Ray Lorenzo, Actcom's President and CEO, in a prepared statement. "We continue to establish profitable bases of operations in important markets from DC southward in support of our regional growth strategy. We will continue with the implementation of our strategy by acquiring other southeast based integrators or opening new offices as the opportunities present themselves".

Howard Van Sciver, the v.p. of sales for ASSI, said the acquisition works well for both companies, addding that the acquisition by Actcom will enable ASSI to reach additional financial, product and staff resources to position the company as a "major player in Florida."

Brian Lamb, Actcom's vice president of business development, who will serve as the interim branch manager for what were previously ASSI's operations, called the decision to acquire ASSI a "natural fit."

ASSI's offices are located in the towns of Jupiter and Davie, Fla.
