Company plans 14,000-square-foot HQ on 6-acres site

Edmond-based Amcat will build a $2 million, 14,000-square-foot "world headquarters" next year on a 6-acre site in the Quail Springs Office Park, executives said Wednesday.

Chief Executive Officer Mark Costello said the headquarters will provide expanded space for 65 employees who work in research and development, sales and marketing and administration.

"The total project will cost about $2 million to $2.5 million," Costello said Wednesday.

The headquarters will be at "1 Amcat Place" in the Quail Springs Office Park just north of Memorial Road in far north Oklahoma City. Work on the building is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2005, with completion before the end of the year.

Oklahoma County records show Amcat bought property in the office park from Quail Springs Office Park LLC recently for $811,000. Costello said the company won't use all of that land and plans to sell some of it. Amcat creates software products for telemarketing clients and call centers worldwide and is now headquartered in the Canyon Office Park, 1603 SE 19 in Edmond.

Co-founded in 1971 as American Computer and Telephone by Mark Costello and his brother, Richard, Amcat claims more than 1,100 installations of its contact software around the world, Mark Costello said. The company's European operations have shown dramatic growth, he said.

It recently opened a new European Development Center in Manchester, England. Amcat's European operations are managed by Yukon native Marcus Robinson.
