London’s Metro Police Release Surveillance Images of July 7 Bombers

Sept. 20, 2005
Images show terrorists on what is believed to have been a recon mission prior to attacks

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005, the London Metropolitan Police released images recorded by surveillance cameras of the July 7 bombers entering and moving through stations of the London Underground just two weeks before the deadly attacks on June 28, 2005.

The men were believed to have been on a reconnaissance mission, plotting their terrorist acts. The police have intentionally distorted the faces of nearby bystanders recorded in the scenes.

The photos show the chilling ease at which terrorists are able to move through the subway system, blending in with other travellers.
