SAP for Retail Solution grows with addition of point-of-sale solution suite

SAP announced on Monday that it has acquired point-of-sale (POS) software solutions provider Triversity, which has established itself as a top provider of POS software in the North American Market.

SAP, which already had more than 2,700 retail industry customers across the globe, will be able to integrate the Triversity system with its SAP for Retail enterprise IT management system. The companies' systems had already been set up to work together at a number of notable retailers, including The Body Shop, Trader Joe's, Indigot Books and Casa Ley.

The Triversity system offers POS loss prevention, inventory management, store back-office and customer service solutions in addition to an array of POS data.

"The acquisition of Triversity falls right in line with our strategy of acquiring companies to enhance product functionality and extend our leading position within key industry verticals," said Bill McDermott, president and CEO, SAP America, in a statement following the announcement of the acquisition. The acquisition was declared during the 2005 Triversity's Retail Summit and Executive Conference, which is occurring now in Phoenix, Ariz., from Sept. 18-20.
