New Manufacturing Plant for Unmanned Air Vehicles to Be Built in Mississippi

STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) -- A Virginia-based supplier of unmanned air vehicles will build a production facility in Mississippi.

Aurora Flight Sciences of Manassas, Va., a leading supplier of unmanned air vehicle designs, components, metal and composite structures, will locate at the Raspet Flight Research Laboratory.

The formal announcement came Wednesday at a news conference at Mississippi State University.

Kyle Steward, a spokesman for U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., said the facility will provide up to 300 jobs.

The Raspet Flight Research Laboratory is located at the Starkville Municipal Airport.

According to the company's Web site, Aurora Flight Sciences designs and produces specialized unmanned aerial vehicles.

Founded in 1989, Aurora began developing high-altitude aircraft. The company offers four product lines to industry and government customers. Aurora also has a facility in Bridgeport, W.Va.
