Kokuyo Engineering & Technology Co. will begin offering comprehensive office security service

TOKYO (Nikkei) -- Kokuyo Engineering & Technology Co. will soon begin offering comprehensive office security service targeted mainly at smaller businesses with up to 500 employees.

The office renovation firm is a subsidiary of stationery goods maker Kokuyo Co. (7984).

The new service, to be offered in a tie-up with Vlcsecure Inc., a consulting firm specializing in data management, will assess the level of security at a given office by checking the way people enter and leave it, how important documents are stored and whether it is easy for outsiders to look at the screens of computers used by workers.

Kokuyo Engineering will then gauge the security needs of various sections of the office on a scale of one to six, based on which it will propose a suitable security system.

Kokuyo Engineering will promote the service by holding seminars on data security. First-year sales are projected at 50 million yen.
