Decades old magazine gets new moniker

The Electronic Security Association (ESA), Irving, Texas has renamed its publication to “Security Nation,” it was announced at the 2013 ESX Show in Nashville.

Formerly known as the Newsline, the publication was due for a change in its moniker—to reflect the changing face of the security industry, according to Laurie Knox, vice president of communications and public relations. Newsline had been the name of the ESA and formerly NBFAA organization for some 50 years, she said.

“We as an organization had evolved and we wanted the name of the publication to evolve into something more current,” Knox said. “We wanted the name to reflect that and we feel Security Nation does,” she said. The refreshed publication debuted with David Koenig, the 2012 Morris Weinstock Person of the Year Award Winner, gracing the issue featured with the Madison, Wis., Capitol building in the background (where the company is based) and a company van and Koenig directly in front.
