New thermostat connects with dozens of devices to make the home more comfortable and secure

Las Vegas – Alarm.com has announced a next-generation smart thermostat designed to tightly integrate with the growing ecosystem of connected devices and sophisticated cloud services in the smart home at the CES show. The Alarm.com Smart Thermostat is a powerful energy management solution, representing a new approach to connected device design. It offers a leading range of home automation features for comfort and savings to meet the individual needs of any home.

The Alarm.com Smart Thermostat introduces a new level of control with Precision Comfort. Unlike other connected thermostats, it adjusts the temperature to the rooms where people live, not just where the thermostat happens to be. Discrete remote temperature sensors are easily placed around the home and the Alarm.com Smart Thermostat can maintain a comfortable temperature for the specific room the user chooses. Dynamic modes automatically adjust the target room and temperature based on the time of the day.

With more information about its environment than standalone connected devices the Alarm.com Smart Thermostat offers more ways to save without impacting comfort. Alarm.com’s cloud platform intelligently connects it with other devices so it more accurately learns a home’s patterns and responds in real-time to activity with a range of features. It adjusts automatically when the security system is armed away, changes temperature based on a user’s location, and automatically reduces energy waste on extremely hot or cold days. The rules and settings are managed by the homeowner and completely flexible to fit a wide range of lifestyles and preferences.

“We designed the Alarm.com Smart Thermostat take advantage of all the devices in the Smart Home to create a better user experience,” said Jay Kenny, Alarm.com’s Vice President of Marketing. “The Alarm.com Smart Thermostat uniquely combines streamlined hardware, sophisticated cloud services and an ecosystem of connected devices for an uncompromising energy management solution that enhance the whole home environment.”

The powerful cloud service improves installation and support. With the homeowner’s permission, the Smart Thermostat can be remotely serviced by professional service providers for instant support. The device is also designed to operate either on AA batteries for up to 18 months of operation or use a common wire.

“A key concern for consumers for smart home technology is how to get it easily installed and supported,” continued Kenny. “We applied the intelligence of the Alarm.com cloud platform to improve installation and support creating a better all-around consumer experience."
