Tyco name to be retained as a security technology brand within the company's product portfolio

In a letter to its customers on Thursday, Johnson Controls announced that it would begin phasing out the Tyco Security Products brand.

David Grinstead, vice president and general manager of security products for Johnson Controls’ Building Technologies & Solutions division, wrote in the letter that the Tyco name itself would be retained as a security technology brand within the company’s product portfolio but that Tyco Security Products as a business unit  would take on the Johnson Controls brand.

Following the merger of the two companies last September, Grinstead said that they’ve worked diligently to bring the best of both companies together and that it is time to “make the most” of their identity as Johnson Controls.

“For our existing security product brands that help drive quality, excellence and innovation, there are no changes. Over time, you can expect to see the Johnson Controls brand on our business cards and email signatures as well as our exhibition and building signage,” wrote Grinstead. “The same knowledgeable, experienced team that earned your trust as Tyco Security Products will continue to serve you as Johnson Controls. We still offer you decades of leadership in fire, security and retail solutions, in-depth understanding of codes, standards and applications, and proven expertise in delivering customized solutions to meet your needs and challenges.”
