Retail theft losses decline

June 22, 2012

Despite the results of several studies published earlier this month which indicate that retail theft and organized retail crime are a growing problem, losses from retail theft actually declined in 2011, according to the preliminary results of the National Retail Security Survey. The survey, which is conducted by the University of Florida with a funding grant from ADT Commercial Security, found that retailers lost more than $34 billion to theft in 2011, a decrease of $2.6 billion from the previous year.
