OnSSI and Firetide Partner for Wireless Video Surveillance

On-Net Surveillance Systems, better known as OnSSI, and Firetide reported today that the companies are working together to deliver advanced wireless surveillance solutions to the security market.

The partnership links OnSSI's IP video surveillance management product suite with Firetide's mesh networks, and allows OnSSI's softare to manage and control video over a Firetide mesh network.

The partnered solutions are likely to first be recognized as beneficial in municipal surveillance, where a high number of cameras might be positioned for wireless interoperability in a downtown area. In fact, the companies reported that their services had already been used by the Dallas Police Department inside the city central business district. In that installation, the cameras typically have PTZ functionality and communicate over the Firetide communications infrastructure.
