IceWEB Aids Federal Agency in Network Authentication, Access

A username and a password don't create two-factor authentication (despite what your employees may believe!), and to ramp up security and authentication protocols, an unnamed U.S. government agency seeking HSPD-12 compliance has turned to IceWEB.

The company announced today that it landed a contract worth approximately $240,000 to deliver two-factor authentication that will likely revolve around a token or smart card and a PIN/password.

"Strong authentication technology increases security by combining something the user knows (their username and PIN) with something they have (a token or a smart card)," said IceWEB CTO James Bond in a statement about the contract. "By requiring users to provide both the PIN and passcode, this authentication system helps to ensure data are only available to authorized users."
