IT products distributor Tech Data expands in video surveillance

IT products distribution firm Tech Data Corporation, is expanding its Physical Security Specialized Business Unit to offer VARs and systems integrators more video surveillance solutions, as well as network testing equipment. The Physical Security SBU has created distribution agreements with Digimerge, JDSU, Lorex Technology, OnSSI and Videolarm.

Additionally, Tech Data's Chuck Bartlett, who is vice president of network product marketing, said the distributor is adding additional network infrastructure testing solutions to its Physical Security distribution unit. Those solutions are primarily from JDSU's Test-Um unit.

Besides the new vendors, Tech Data is also carrying products from networked security product vendors 4XEM, Axis Communications, Bosch, Computar, D-Link, Cisco, IPX, ISONAS, Milestone, NetBotz, NUUO, Panasonic, Q-See, Sony, Toshiba, United Digital Technologies and Vivotek. The company also has been growing its access control solutions, and says its customers for this unit are primarily those firms installing IP-connected security onto existing business networks.
