Sargent adds HID’s iCLASS technology to its Passport 1000 access control solution

NEW HAVEN, CT, March, 2011 – Sargent Manufacturing Company, a market leader in locksets, exit devices, door closers, access control locks and related products, and ASSA ABLOY Group company, now offers HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz smart card technology in its Passport 1000 P1 and P2 Power over Ethernet (PoE) campus access control solutions.

The iCLASS technology improves the security of the locks by making physical access control more powerful through encryption and mutual authentication while offering versatile interoperability. At the same time, iCLASS is user-friendly, delivering the convenience, affordability and reliability of proximity technology. ASSA ABLOY Group brands are the only providers of a full range of access control solutions with full iCLASS authentication.

The addition of iCLASS technology enhances the performance of an already superior line of access control solutions. The SARGENT Passport 1000 P1 is an online ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 lock utilizing Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology. It connects to the building’s Ethernet network and can make decisions locally, providing simple, secure, online campus access control. It is capable of real-time door status monitoring and lockdown, and is available in exit device, mortise and cylindrical lock configurations.

The Passport 1000 P2 brings WiFi technology to campus access control. The Passport 1000 P2’s ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 hardware installs easily with no wires to run to the door. It allows communications over an existing IEEE 802.11 b/g Wifi network using open standard equipment, simplifying integration into an existing access control system. The Passport P2 is offered in a choice of magstripe or 125 kHz prox credentials and an optional keypad.
