NaviGate releases v5.0 of incident report and management system

A new interface and enhanced modules will allow users to be proactive within their organization.


NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio -- NaviGate by Lauren Innovations, a Web-based critical information system for safety and security purposes, is pleased to announce the release of version 5.0. The release, which rolled out at 5:00 p.m. on Jan. 4, 2011, includes a new user-interface, document and incident management capabilities and enhancements to the existing emergency and learning management modules.

“We are proud and excited to release 5.0 in response to the ideas and input from many of our users,” commented Dr. Bennet Fierman, president of Lauren Innovations. “The challenge always is providing added value and practical capability combined with our commitment to an intuitive, clean interface. The new integration of Document Management and Incident Management, along with navigation enhancements delivers exactly that.”

As users log on post-release, they will notice both cosmetic and layout changes to the NaviGate system. A customizable landing page as well as the choice between a traditional pull-down navigation bar or directory tree navigation pane will greet users as the most visible changes to the system. By using the directory tree, users can link directly to any page on the site and even jump right to a single site plan, photo, incident report or document with just one click. Standard upgrade features also include an integrated help section for each page as well as a searchable knowledge base of common questions and their solutions.

Document Management
The Document Management system is a new module released in version 5.0. Users can create, store, edit and add existing documents—and with permissions set at the document level, visibility control is never a problem. Whether HR creates a new personnel policy or Risk Management requires the tracking of hazardous materials with MSDS sheets, NaviGate’s Document Management system has the functionality to span any department within an organization. Documents can also be linked directly to areas in the Site and Building Plan module within NaviGate, users can upload or create a new document once and link it to multiple areas which are automatically updated when a new version is published; additionally, all changes to a document are tracked and previous versions can be archived with a new document release. Individual documents can also be tagged to be included in the virtual binder.

Incident Management
The Incident Management system is another new module in NaviGate version 5.0. It allows users to track incidents and all of the details surrounding the incident such as people, vehicles and locations. The pin map feature can tag an incident to a specific location on a building or site plan which can later be reported on to view and track incident trends. Further, the Incident Management module contains customized reporting functionality, the option to ban and keep track of persons banned from a property as well as a Google Maps interface that provides the ability to track incidents, people and vehicles across multiple sites. Using this new module, safety and security personnel at a hospital or university can easily track incidents on campus and be proactive to avoid future occurrences.
