DSC unveils Alexor alarm panel

Two-way wireless panel allows for secure, quick installation

As ISC West 2009 got under way Wednesday morning, security solutions provider DSC debuted the Alexor, its’ new two-way wireless alarm panel, as well as a host of other new solutions.

According to Rob Guttentag, vice president and general manager of DSC, the company wanted a name that would adequately represent the abilities of the new panel.

“We were looking for a powerful name, one that had a connection with being strong and secure,” he said.

They eventually decided to combine the name of Macedonian conqueror Alexander the Great with the word “protector” to create Alexor. Guttentag said that wireless connectivity ability of the Alexor panel saves dealers a significant amount of time on installation and also allows them to make the panel more secure by being able to install it in a safe location, hence the company’s theme of “power and speed” at this year’s show.

In honor of the theme, Guttentag unveiled a custom motorcycle built for the company by Orange County Choppers from the hit TLC show “American Chopper.”

DSC will be hosting a competition among installers during ISC to see who can install the new Alexor panel the fastest. In addition to a DSC leather jacket and custom painted Alexor panel, the winner will also have the opportunity to install the new alarm panel at OCC’s shop in New York.

Though the Alexor panel was the most prominent among the company’s latest announcements, DSC also debuted 15 other new security products on the first day of ISC including a new Sur-Gard receiver system, as well as new detector and software solutions.
