Sur-Gard announces Sur-Gard system IV virtual receiver

Receiver features 120 communication formats, auto-switching redundancy

ISC WEST – Las Vegas, NV, Wednesday, April 6, 201 1 -- – Sur-Gard, part of Tyco Security Products, has announced the release of its new Sur-Gard System IV virtual receiver, which delivers the robust technical features that are demanded and expected in a monitoring station receiver to enable central stations to properly receive and handle burglar and fire alarms.

Supporting over 120 commonly used communication formats, this virtual receiver uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to increase the speed, accuracy and flexibility of each line card to allow the processing of a greater number of communication formats.

Offered at a space-saving, compact size at 19” x 3.5” x 12.24” per SG-MLRF4 , the Sur-Gard System IV has a built-in redundant power supply, so if the primary CPM stops working, the secondary unit automatically takes over to ensure continuous communication, requiring no user intervention. In addition, a CPM with built-in diagnostic software proactively identifies any issues through an easy-to-use Windows™-based SG-Systems Console software. Continually monitoring the automation software ensures automatic backup to a redundant port.

The line cards of the Sur-Gard System IV virtual receiver are ‘hot swappable' for quick removal or replacement while the system is live. Programming changes can be easily made using the menu-driven 1/4 VGA display or remotely over a network Ethernet connection using Sur-Gard Systems Console Software. Flash technology ensures that any required software upgrades can be conveniently made without additional hardware or firmware changes. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) increases the speed, accuracy and flexibility of each line card to allow the processing of a greater number of communication formats.

The Sur-Gard System IV virtual receiver features auto-switching redundancy for power and to output peripherals, such as computers, printers and automation software platforms. Offering mix and match capability between up to 24 IP or PSTN line cards, the system supports GSN Ethernet IP formats. It is UL and ULC listed for both fire and burglar alarms.
