Panasonic launches new analog cams

Las Vegas, NV (April 1, 2009) – Panasonic System Solutions Company is showcasing a new series of analog cameras featuring the company’s innovative Super Dynamic 5 (SD5) camera technology here at ISC West 2009. Panasonic’s introductions further expand the industry's broadest range of choices and set a new benchmark in image quality and performance for legacy and hybrid system applications. Introductions include the WV-CW504 Series SD5 Vandal-Resistant Fixed Dome camera and the
WV-CP500 Series SD5 box camera.

SD5 technology provides brighter and clearer images, enhanced by Adaptive Black Stretch (ABS) technology to compensate for dark areas in an image and intelligent Video Motion Detection (i-VMD) to effectively capture moving objects. Both cameras also feature Auto Back Focus (ABF) to adjust the positioning of the CCD sensor to provide accurate focus in both color and black-and-white modes reducing post-installation intervention.

“Analog cameras continue to play a significant role in professional video surveillance systems. These introductions reinforce Panasonic’s ongoing commitment to product development related to analog technologies,” said J.M. Allain, President of Panasonic System Solutions Company. “Our newest analog cameras incorporate innovative imaging technologies exclusive to Panasonic, and provide our customers with the performance they need to further improve their surveillance capabilities.”

Panasonic's new Super Dynamic 5 technology offers greater low-light sensitivity
(0.3 lux in color mode), more lines of color resolution (650 lines in color mode), 3-D Color Optimization, Adaptive Digital Noise Reduction and a 128x greater dynamic range with ABS technology. The new-generation SD5's i-VMD also senses whether an object has been moved or left behind, and uses scene-change detection to alert when a lens is defocused, removed or tampered with. Additionally, an Auto Image Stabilizer enables applications where vibration or wind is a concern.

The WV-CW504 Vandal-Resistant Fixed Dome version includes an IP66-rated water and dust-resistant dome that is compatible with the IEC60529 measurement standard. A dehumidification device can accommodate various weather conditions, and an optional heater maintains the operating temperature. Installation is easy using a 3-way hinge (horizontal, vertical and swivel rotation), and a 2-piece mounting bracket structure simplifies cable connection. Mounting options include flush mount (F type), surface mount (S type), and embedded ceiling mount (with optional WV-Q169).

“Customer demand continues to drive the necessity for more advanced analog cameras even as the industry’s focus has shifted to networked systems,” added Mr. Allain. “These new SD5 models – packed with features and functionality – are great examples of Panasonic’s commitment to provide the industry's best customer-driven integrated system solutions, whether analog or digital.”
