Samsung Techwin unveils new infrared cameras

Carson, CA (October 14, 2009) – Samsung Techwin America (, a leader in the digital video security, today announced its new SIR-4160 and SIR-4260V Infrared (IR) cameras – both featuring Samsung Techwin’s new 5th generation DSP (W5) image processing technology. “Samsung CCTV cameras have been known for their superior performance and rich feature sets,” said Henry Kim, Senior Product Manager for Samsung Techwin America. “With this latest DSP processor, we have raised the bar on features and performance in competitively priced security cameras.”


The SIR-4160 is a compact indoor/outdoor day/night IR camera with an integrated mount. It leverages 32 high performance LEDs for illumination of subjects up to 131 feet away in total darkness. The SIR-4260V is a vandal resistant IP66 rated IR dome camera in a rugged high impact polycarbonate dome cover. It includes 10 high performance LED’s for nighttime illumination of subjects up to 66 feet away. Both the SIR-4160 and SIR-4260V feature up to 600 TV lines of resolution in color and up to 700 TV lines in black and white. They also include telemetry control via coax for easy remote camera configuration without the need for running separate data cables.


Other features include a 1/3” super HAD color CCD, a built-in 3.6X (2.8 ~ 10mm) varifocal lens, true day/night IR cut filter removal (ICR), Samsung’s new noise reduction technology (SSNR III), Samsung’s Super Dynamic Range (SSDR), and lower storage requirements.
