Sargent adds iCLASS technology to its Profile Series v.S1 and v.S2 locks

NEW HAVEN, CT, October 12, 2010 – Sargent Manufacturing Company, an ASSA ABLOY Group brand and a market leader in locksets, exit devices, door closers, access control locks and related products, now offers HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz smart card technology in its Profile Series v.S1 (PoE) and v.S2 (WiFi) IP-enabled locks.

The iCLASS technology improves the security of the locks by making physical access control more powerful through encryption and mutual authentication while offering versatile interoperability. At the same time, iCLASS is user-friendly, delivering the convenience, affordability and reliability of proximity technology. ASSA ABLOY Group brands are the only providers of a full range of access control solutions with full iCLASS authentication.

The addition of iCLASS technology enhances the performance of an already superior line of access control solutions. The SARGENT Profile Series locks connect to existing networks using non-proprietary and industry standard equipment, dramatically reducing cost and simplifying installation. They feature ANSI/BHMAGrade 1 hardware and are available in exit device, mortise and cylindrical lock configurations.

The SARGENT Profile Series v.S1 brings the power of the network to door hardware. The ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 lock uses IEEE 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled network infrastructure for both power and data and provides the same real-time communication as traditional access control. Non-proprietary cable, PoE switches, and midspans facilitate cost-effective installations.

The Profile Series v.S2 intelligent WiFi locks offer the ability to extend the reach of your access control systems using a building's existing 802.11b/g WiFi infrastructure. The v.S2 offers complete access control functionality and is ideal for locations where it would be difficult or cost-prohibitive to install a wired lock.
