MINNETONKA, MINN — March 1, 2011 — Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today announced the launch of the Datacard CD800 enterprise-class desktop card printer. Designed for a wide variety of industries and applications, including state and local government ID programs and corporate and student ID applications, the CD800 printer outperforms the competition in its class with faster print speeds, more reliable operation and better print quality.
"The CD800 card printer can handle enterprise-level demands while still being easy-to-use and affordable," said Kathleen Phillips, head of desktop personalization systems for Datacard Group. "Our experience building systems for high-volume, on-demand card issuance gave us the insight to develop the CD800 printer’s industry-leading features."
Datacard Group has developed new technology for its desktop card printers including TruePick antijam card handling and TrueMatch color matching for more vibrant images when using Datacard Certified Supplies. Along with this technology, the CD800 card printer can reproduce fine text and intricate graphics, 2D bar codes and two-byte character sets at the industry’s highest resolution: up to 300 x 1200 dots per inch.
The CD800 card printer helps users boost productivity by printing high volumes of cards at the fastest speeds in its class: up to 220 full-color, one-sided cards per hour or up to 165 two-sided cards per hour.
The CD800 printer’s modular design lets users add field-upgradable features and encoding technologies to satisfy their unique printing needs today and in the future. The printer has also earned the ENERGYSTAR and sets benchmarks for eco-friendly card printing with biodegradable Datacard Certified Supply cores and recyclable printer components and packaging.
"We really pulled from over 40 years of industry experience to create the CD800 card printer," said Russell St. John, senior vice president of global marketing for Datacard Group. "We wanted to build an enterprise-class card printer that performs and prints at a better value and higher quality than any comparable desktop printer on the market today."
The CD800 card printer is available for purchase beginning today, March 1, 2011.
