LAS VEGAS, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- UTC Fire & Security today announced the availability of its new, wireless GE Two-Way Talking Touch Screen. This innovative, new 3.5 inch color touch screen provides wireless control of Simon XT security panels and lighting and thermostatic control devices.
Once installed and configured, homeowners set up automation schedules through a web portal provided by Alarm.com. Then, simple arming and disarming of the security system by using the touch screen can automatically adjust thermostat settings.
"Convenience and efficiency are the key features for the customer," said David Nark, product marketing manager, Intrusion, UTC Fire & Security. "It's a very user-friendly way to protect the home, and gives the homeowner more control over their utility usage. Integration of the primary systems in the home is what customers are asking for, and this panel provides a solution that helps them in their daily lives."
The GE Two-Way Talking Touch Screen uses proprietary and z-wave communications to interact with security, lighting and thermostatic devices. Features include a standard message marquee on the screen that is customizable to provide channel partners an effective way to communicate key product and service messages directly to their customers. In addition, an audible setting status enables the device to "speak" to the user, indicating alarm setting, and if doors or windows are open or closed. Consumers will also appreciate the 'at-a–glance' weather forecast and current temperature displayed on the screen.
Beginning in March, the new touch screen will be orderable to UTC Fire & Security direct and distribution channel partners, with shipments beginning in April. A fully operational demonstration of the GE Two-Way Talking Touch Screen will be on display in booth #11067 at ISC West, March 24-26, at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas.
