ROCKVILLE, Md. , Nov. 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- VUANCE, Ltd. (Nasdaq: VUNC), a leading provider of innovative Radio Frequency Verification Solutions, including active RFID, electronic access control, credentialing, accountability and incident response management, today announced that it will participate in the Golden Guardian event, the nation's largest state-sponsored emergency exercise, scheduled to take place November 13-18 .

VUANCE will provide credentialing services and expertise for the City of Los Angeles and the City's General Services Department (GSD) as part of the City's participation in the statewide event. The GSD covers all city-owned property. There will be several hundred volunteers credentialed for this portion of the exercise, covering three enrollment centers, one command center, and 6-20 handheld devices.

Golden Guardian 2008 tests the capability of California's state and local first response organizations to respond and recover during a major catastrophic earthquake. The Golden Guardian 2008 full-scale exercise scenario focuses on a simulated, catastrophic 7.8 magnitude earthquake along the southern portion of the San Andreas Fault. The purpose of this specific portion of the exercise is to test the ability of the credentialing system by enrolling/issuing credentials and using credentials for perimeter control. The statewide event will include more than 5,000 participants from dozens of local, state, and federal agencies, including the U.S. Military, state, county and city law enforcement, and private organizations.

Thomas Connell , VUANCE's Vice President for Government Solutions, commented, "This is a unique opportunity to test VUANCE's credentialing and access-control capabilities within a broad and highly publicized exercise. The City of Los Angeles plans to use the results of this exercise to determine how much to invest and where to allocate resources to potentially expand and strengthen its credentialing system. The City is already working with a grant coordinator from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. We are excited to participate in this unique event and are optimistic that our efforts will augment our existing relationship with LA's General Services Department and be helpful in winning additional business with the city, as well as other governmental organizations throughout California ."
