Company's Vari-focal lenses used for production line monitoring

Vari-focal lenses from SENKOADL are being used by a major food packaging company in the north of England on a production line monitoring application.

The lenses, which have a focal length of 2.8~12mm and 7.5~50mm, are from SENKOADL’s “pro” series. They have been fitted here to 1/3" colour cameras from Samsung.

The client, SP Containers of Rotherham, supplies paper-based food containers for national and international brands including Marks & Spencer and Tesco. The products range from containers at fast-food outlets to supermarket ice cream tubs. They are delivered pre-printed with the end-users’ corporate identity and ingredients etc.

The SENKOADL lenses are operating over a 400-metre production area to check for hold-ups and other problems on the production line. Data is relayed back to monitors at operation points on the assembly lines and to a central control room. Recording is to a Dedicated Micros unit that allows remote viewing of footage by the client’s management team, particularly in the event of backlogs or hold-ups on night shifts.

The installer for the project is Ferrybridge-based DJ Byers whose expertise covers security surveillance, health and safety and the remote and local monitoring of the kind described here. The company is respected for the thoroughness of its site surveys and expertise in pre-build.

The units have been supplied by distributor Dynamic CCTV whose success since their establishment in 1994 has seen the company relocate three times to larger premises in the Middlesbrough area.

The customer is benefiting from the image quality that comes from SENKOADL’s high-resolution Japanese lens technology and extraordinary low dispersion (ED) glass.

Installers in the UK and Europe should note that SENKOADL has a European headquarters in Berkshire, England. Extensive warehouse facilities and skilled engineers ensure that installers benefit from rapid turnaround and exceptional customer care.

The 2.8~12mm SENKOADL lens used on this project has an iris range of F1.4-close and will operate in temperatures of –10 to 50°C. The lens is suitable for 1/3 and 1.4” cameras. Dimensions are ø38.0 x 54mm and the units weigh 70g.
