Company's VLM solution to protect technology history at San Jose Tech Museum

Mt. Laurel, N.J., October 28, 2008 - TimeSight Systems, the industry leader in Video Lifecycle Management (VLM), today announced that the San Jose Tech Museum (The Tech) has successfully implemented its TimeSight VLM solution to protect generations of technology industry history. The TimeSight technology allows implementation of high-security, high-resolution video surveillance in critical areas at a fraction of the cost of competitive systems.

"What better place than The Tech to select and deploy the latest innovations in video surveillance from a leader like TimeSight Systems," said Rich Turner, senior director of Engineering, Fabrication and Facilities for the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose. "Their advanced yet extremely practical VLM and MORe (Motion Optimized Recording) surveillance technology made using megapixel quality cameras quite affordable."

The Tech began as a dream in 1978, and the vision was realized in 1990 when a 20,000-square-foot temporary test facility was opened in the old convention center on San Carlos Street. Since then, The Tech has fine-tuned its mission of engaging people of all ages in the technologies that affect their daily lives and has built a reputation as a viable and necessary educational resource in the area of science and technology learning. It has also become a landmark for visitors seeking a glimpse of the most inventive place on earth and a showcase of the latest high-tech and "priceless" gizmos and gadgets that continue to define Silicon Valley. The need to protect both people and property are top priorities for the caretakers of this institution making high resolution video surveillance a "must have." Since The Tech opened, 4,000,000 visitors from all over the world have enjoyed a one-of-a-kind, up close view of the spirit of innovation.

"As a curator, my responsibility is to deliver and protect the finest collection of technical innovation to the area," added Turner. "As a business manager, I need to make sure I keep our costs down, especially in these economic times."

The requirement for high quality video surveillance was needed to protect employees, the many visitors and of course their unique and priceless works of technical art. According to Turner, TimeSight VLM with MORe was not only innovative but also practical as it greatly reduced their storage needs and associated costs.

"TimeSight's VLM appliances with MORe, intelligently manages and stores The TechÄ…s high resolution video without the large amounts of storage needed byother systems," said Charles Foley, chairman and CEO, TimeSight Systems. "They can now use new high resolution cameras to eliminate all grainy video, increase identifiable events such as theft or vandalism while maintaining weeks of video at the desired quality and storage cost of less than days from all other alternatives."

By working with TimeSight Systems, The Tech identified key risk time periods within the retention window which in turn determined their VLM and MORe policies. Turner speaks to the value of mapping risk to image size, "As a promoter of technical innovation, I was pleased to see a practical and cost effective application of TimeSight's innovative VLM software technology. They simply made deploying megapixel cameras simple and affordable."

The Tech takes advantage of high resolution camera images with the coverage and protection they provide, without suffering the storage costs or limited retention times by dynamically changing H.264 compression levels on stored TimeSight video images as they age and their risk is reduced.
