Honeywell releases Custom Alpha Prox Keypad

MELVILLE, N.Y., March 15, 2010 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON) today introduced the 6160PX Custom Alpha Prox Keypad. Designed for easy, trouble-free use, the 6160PX lets end-users control their security systems with a single swipe of a proximity tag—simplifying operation, eliminating the need for codes and reducing end-user created false alarms. The compact, lightweight tags slide onto any key ring and can be carried with household keys, wallets, backpacks and more.

"The 6160PX provides a tremendous sales opportunity, because it lets our dealers offer easy-to-use protection to consumers on the go," explained Rob Marabella, senior product manager at Honeywell. "It’s easy enough for people of all ages to use and is especially appealing to anyone who may fear remembering codes or has difficulty pressing keypad buttons. Since the prox technology makes operation so convenient, customers will be more likely to interact with their security systems on a daily basis and renew their accounts."

Additional features include a crystal clear display that spells out system status and zone information in plain English, four one-touch function keys that can be custom programmed to summon emergency response personnel, backlit keys for greater nighttime visibility and a versatile design that blends with any décor.

The 6160PX can be used in hardwired or wireless installations without any additional modules. Each keypad comes with two proximity tags, with the option to buy more.
