Dave Schellin, Jim Russell and Bruce Canal join access control solutions firm

Dayton, Ohio – (Jan. 20, 2008) – Matrix Systems, a leader in the physical access control industry with its Frontier product line, has completed the addition of three new executives as part of the privately held company’s positioning for future growth.

Matrix has been in a management rebuilding process since last year when it named Dave Schellin as chief operating officer and CFO. Prior to joining Matrix, Schellin held a similar post for six years with an enterprise software and IT services firm following a decade as a senior financial executive with a national chain retailer. Said Schellin, "Despite very challenging circumstances in the general economy and otherwise, we’re pleased with the success our efforts are having. We just completed a year (fiscal 2008), which saw our third consecutive period of double-digit revenue increases and even stronger profit growth. I expect this trend to continue as our management additions and system and process improvements mature."

Also new to Matrix is Jim Russell, a 20-year veteran of the security industry, who was named vice president of sales. Prior to joining Matrix, Russell was director of national accounts for Stanley Security Systems, Indianapolis, where he was responsible for increasing year-over-year sales. Russell's security career began with Best Access Systems, North Salem, N.Y., where he was steadily promoted to a number of sales leadership positions before being named manager for the company’s eastern region.

The company also named Bruce Canal as its senior director of field operations, responsible for Matrix operations and project management, which is charged with installing and upgrading access control systems including CCTV. Canal is a former Indiana State Police Sergeant. He has also served as a security consultant to schools, universities and corporations as well as a security director for a multi-billion dollar apparel catalog business.

Says James Young, Matrix Systems’ president and CEO, "We are excited by the additions of such seasoned talent to our team." Young continues, "These executives, together with a substantial organizational re-structuring and investment in both staff and new operational systems are transforming Matrix’s operations as we go forward."
